Journavx (Suzetrigine)
Journavx is a newly found non-opioid analgesic approved by the FDA in 2025 for the treatment of moderate to severe acute pain in adults. It is a first-in-class, NaV1.8-selective sodium-channel blocker that acts upon peripheral pain signaling, with no effect on opioid receptors. Thus, it is capable of providing adequate pain relief as compared to opioids without causing any addiction, respiratory depression, or constipation-like side effects.
Qulipta (Atogepant)
Qulipta (atogepant), is a prescription drug used for the preventive treatment of episodic migraine in adults. This group of medications is called calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) receptor antagonists. Acting mainly on the CGRP receptor, Qulipta prevents migraine attacks from happening in the first place, offering a daily oral medication for those patients who repeatedly undergo such bouts of migraines.
Gabapentin
Gabapentin is a prescription neurologic medication commonly used to manage nerve-related pain and reduce seizure risk following traumatic injuries. In cases such as motor vehicle collisions (MVC) or traumatic brain injury (TBI), it helps stabilize overactive nerve signals that contribute to burning, tingling, or shooting pain. By calming hypersensitized pathways in the central nervous system, Gabapentin supports neurological recovery. It is widely recognized for its effectiveness and favorable safety profile in trauma-related care.
Tizanidine
Tizanidine is a centrally acting muscle relaxant commonly prescribed after motor vehicle accidents, whiplash, or traumatic brain injuries. It helps relieve muscle spasms, stiffness, and nerve-related rigidity caused by neurological trauma. With a fast onset and short duration, it can be timed around symptom flare-ups or physical therapy sessions. Tizanidine supports improved mobility, comfort, and functional recovery.
Meloxicam
Meloxicam is a once-daily prescription NSAID used to relieve pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and juvenile idiopathic arthritis. By selectively targeting COX-2 enzymes, it reduces swelling, stiffness, and joint discomfort. Its long-acting formula supports consistent symptom control throughout the day. Meloxicam is widely prescribed for chronic inflammatory conditions requiring ongoing management.
Diclofenac
Diclofenac is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medication designed to manage inflammatory pain conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and sports injuries. It works by blocking prostaglandins that trigger swelling and discomfort. Offered in tablets, extended-release forms, and topical gels, it allows flexible treatment options. When used appropriately, it delivers effective short- and long-term pain control.
Exelon (Rivastigmine)
Exelon (Rivastigmine) is a cognitive-enhancing medication used off-label to support recovery after traumatic brain injury (TBI). By increasing acetylcholine levels in the brain, it may improve memory, focus, and processing speed. It is often prescribed for patients experiencing post-concussion brain fog or attention deficits. Exelon can play a supportive role in structured neurorehabilitation programs.
Methocarbamol
Methocarbamol is a muscle relaxant at the prescription level for immediate relief from acute muscle pain and discomfort due to strain, sprain, or other musculoskeletal disorders. It has a retarding effect on the central nervous system, reducing the severity and frequency of muscle spasms. Often considered together with exercise and rehabilitative treatment in addition to other treatments, Methocarbamol is claimed to exert its sedative and muscle-relaxing effects without directly affecting the muscle.
Naproxen
Naproxen is a general non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) to relieve various painful conditions. It works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body. It treats arthritis, muscle aches, frequent cramps, tendonitis, or other inflammatory conditions. It is available over-the-counter and by prescription, which means it can be effectively used to treat both acute and chronic pain.
Lidocaine Patches
The lidocaine patch is a topical anesthetic product in the form of patches, acting to alleviate localized nerve/muscle pain. These medicated patches contain lidocaine, an analgesic agent that temporarily obstructs the specific nerves from impulses in the area where applied. They are often used against postherpetic neuralgia following shingles, muscle pain, back pain, or even minor injuries. Unlike oral drugs, lidocaine patches deliver pain relief directly over the area without involving the entire body.
